We are Master Service Learning Club (MSLC), a master student club in charge of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Site at R.H Smith Business School . The mission of the MSLC is to be a bridge between non-profit organizations and Smith Master Students, to plan and organize events related to public services in order to contribute to the community and to enrich students’ volunteering experience. We dedicate to establishing relationship with non-profit organizations and providing students with a sense of social responsibility.
During Spring semester, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is one of MSLC’s major project, which offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
Our goals are to help client maintain compliance with the tax law, maximize their tax savings, to educate public about taxes and to provide both a valuable community service and a powerful hands-on learning experience for the accounting students.
